Blueberry Syrup:
- 4 Cups Blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 2 Cups Water
- 1 Cup Sugar
Lemonade Ingredients:
- 8 Cups Water (club soda or sparkling water)
- 1 Cup Lemon Juice (fresh squeezed)
- ½ Cup Sugar (optional: if needed)
Option 1: Blender Method
Start by blending 4 cups of blueberries in a blender until smooth. Strain the blended blueberries through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth, removing the pulp and keeping the liquid.
Pour the blueberry liquid into a large pitcher. Add 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice, and 8 cups of water (you can use regular water, club soda, or sparkling water for a fizzy twist).
Stir the mixture well and taste. Adjust the flavors to your liking by adding more sugar, lemon juice, or water if needed.
Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices and fresh blueberries for a refreshing touch.
Option 2: Cooked Syrup Method
In a saucepan, combine 4 cups of blueberries, 2 cups of water, and 1 cup of sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Cook the mixture for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries have broken down and the syrup has thickened slightly. Strain the blueberry syrup through a fine mesh sieve, discarding the solids. Allow the syrup to cool completely.
Once cooled, add the blueberry syrup (about 2 1/2 cups of syrup) to a large pitcher along with 1 cup of fresh lemon juice and 8 cups of water (or club soda for a sparkling version).
