Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until the caramel is melted and smooth. Another option is to melt and combine the ingredients on the stovetop over medium-low heat.
Pour the caramel sauce over the brownie in the pan, then sprinkle the pecans and the dark chocolate chips.
Pour the remaining brownie batter over the caramel, pecans, and chocolate chips, spreading it out evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
