  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

Liquids

  • 3 cups beef broth
  • ¾ cup tomato sauce (for taco depth, not tomato soup vibes)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (at the end on a low simmer)

Finish

  • 2 tablespoons lime juice (don’t skip — this brightens everything

Instructions

  • Build the flavor base: Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion and bell pepper. Cook 4–5 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds
  • Brown the beef: Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess grease.
  • Season: Add the taco seasoning, cumin, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook 1 minute to toast the spices.
  • Add liquids: Pour in beef broth, tomato sauce, and simmer 10–12 minutes.
  • Make it creamy: Reduce heat to low. Stir in heavy cream. Simmer 3–5 more minutes.
  • Finish strong: Turn off heat. Stir in fresh lime juice. Taste and adjust salt if needed.
