Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. Ground Beef
  • 1 lbs. Ground Pork
  • 1 Onion (large)(diced)
  • 3 (8oz) Canned Tomato Sauce
  • 1 Cup Instant Rice
  • 1 Cup Water or (chicken stock)
  • 2 Tsp Vegeta
  • ¼ Tsp Black Pepper
  • 6 Green Bell Peppers (cut in half) (cleaned and ribs removed)
  • 4 oz Cheddar Cheese (optional) (shredded)

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: 350-degree F
  • Saute the Meat: In a large skillet, sauté the ground beef and ground pork until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
  • Add Onion and Seasonings: Add chopped onion to the cooked meats and continue to sauté until the onion is translucent. Season with Vegeta and black ground pepper.
  • Combine with Tomato Sauce and Rice: Stir in the tomato sauce, instant rice, and add water. Mix well to ensure the rice is evenly coated and begins to absorb the water and the flavors.
  • Prepare the Peppers: Clean the bell peppers, cut them in half, and remove the seeds and membranes. Arrange them in a 9 x 13 baking dish.
  • Fill Peppers with Meat Mixture: Generously fill each bell pepper half with the meat and rice mixture.
  • Bake in the Oven: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated 350-degree F oven for approximately one hour, or until the peppers are tender.
  • Optional Cheese Topping: If desired, remove the foil and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the stuffed peppers. Return to the oven for a few more minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Carefully remove the stuffed peppers from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
