Ingredients You’ll Need

A block of real parmigiano-reggiano makes a noticeable difference in the glaze texture. The FDA defines parmesan cheese as having at least 32% milkfat — look for that on the label when buying.

How to Make Honey Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Time needed: 1 hour

  1. Prepare the Marinate:

    Combine all of the ingredients for the marinade. Place the chicken in a large resealable bag and pour in the marinade. Massage the marinade in the chicken to make sure all of the chicken gets coated.

    Place in the fridge overnight for the best flavor but 3-4 hours would be enough if you were short on time.

    Why marinate overnight? The acid from the lemon juice gently tenderizes the meat. The garlic and honey have time to penetrate all the way through. You’ll taste the difference.

  2. Pre-heat Oven and Bake:

    Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a large baking dish with foil for easy cleanup. Arrange the chicken skin-side up in a single layer. Bake for 35–40 minutes.

    The chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F. Use a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh. Avoid touching the bone — it can give a falsely high reading.

I prefer to remove the meat from the bones before freezing. It thaws faster and takes up less freezer space. Press as much air out of the freezer bag as possible before sealing.
